A Picturesque Paros Wedding at Petra Farm
If you have ever imagined what a wedding on a Greek island might look like, Kendra and Tyler’s celebration in Paros is exactly that.
A tiny whitewashed chapel, blue domes against an endless summer sky, bougainvillea tumbling over stone walls, olive trees, the Aegean in the distance and dinner outdoors as the light began to soften. It had all the elements we associate with a quintessential Greek island wedding, but interpreted with a fresh, modern sensibility.
More than anything, this was a truly intimate family wedding, almost as if the celebration was taking place in their own garden; personal, relaxed and wonderfully close-knit. Kendra’s vision was always to embrace Paros rather than transform it. Petra Farm offered exactly the right setting, with the ceremony taking place outdoors beside its charming chapel and the celebration continuing with an alfresco dinner surrounded by the natural beauty of the island.
The design followed the same philosophy. Crisp whites and greens, contemporary details and an understated tablescape brought a modern edge to the setting, while the architecture, landscape and authentic Cycladic character remained at the heart of everything.
And Paros was very much part of the story. The photographer spent a couple of days photographing Kendra and Tyler around the island, from its blue doors and whitewashed lanes to rocky beaches, bougainvillea-covered corners and views across the Aegean. The result is a gallery that captures not only a wedding, but the wonderful experience of coming to a Greek island to get married.
Perhaps the loveliest part of it all is that Kendra and Tyler didn’t simply choose Paros as the place for their wedding. They allowed the island to become part of it and that is what made it feel so beautifully, unmistakably Greek.
