Beachfront & Seaside Venues
Beaches, coves and clifftop terraces across the Greek islands, for a wedding by the Aegean.
The sea is inseparable from life on the Greek islands, and for many couples it becomes an essential part of the wedding they imagine here.
From secluded beaches and hidden coves where you can quite literally celebrate with your feet in the sand, to elegant coastal estates, clifftop settings and restaurants overlooking the Aegean, Greece offers seaside wedding venues in many different forms. Imagine the long golden beaches of Naxos, a hidden cove on a smaller Cycladic island, or a terrace high above the sea as the sun begins to set. A ceremony by the water or overlooking it can flow into sunset cocktails and dinner beneath the open sky.
Whether directly on the shore or high above it, these venues capture the freedom, natural beauty and relaxed spirit of celebrating on a Greek island.
Best Beach & Seaside Wedding Venues in Greece
Every couple pictures the sea differently. Some want sand underfoot and the water close enough to hear during the vows, others a terrace hanging over the Aegean with nothing but blue below. These are the venues we trust when the sea is the whole point of the wedding.
Beach & Seaside Wedding Venues in Santorini
Santorini’s sea comes in two versions. On the caldera side it lies three hundred metres below you, framed by the cliffs and turning gold at sunset. On the east and south coasts it meets long beaches of dark volcanic sand, where the party can run barefoot into the night. Our Santorini wedding guide covers the rest.
Canaves Suites
Canaves Oia Suites sits in Oia, the village at the northern tip of Santorini, with the Aegean spread out below it. The suites are elegant and private, the sort of place couples book for themselves and their closest guests, so the wedding and the stay are only a few steps apart.
Cavo Ventus
Cavo Ventus stands on the very edge of the caldera, three hundred metres above the sea, with a thousand square metres of private space that belongs to one wedding at a time. It comes as a blank canvas, so the layout, the styling and the flow of the evening are shaped entirely around the couple, with the volcano as the only fixed element.
El Viento
El Viento looks out from the cliffs of Megalochori, a quiet village on the south side of the caldera, far from the crowds of Oia and Fira. The venue is spacious yet feels secluded, and as the sun drops into the sea in front of it, the whole terrace turns gold for the ceremony.
Grace Hotel
Grace Hotel sits on the cliffs of Imerovigli, the village with some of the widest views across the caldera, and its infinity pool looks straight out over the volcano. Part of the Auberge Resorts Collection, it pairs contemporary design and discreet, polished service with real privacy, which is exactly what a small, high-end wedding needs when the guests are staying under the same roof.
Islet
Islet is a single private villa on the caldera, set high above the sea where the island drops away into the Aegean. It feels like a home rather than a hotel, with architecture shaped by the volcanic landscape around it, and for a wedding that means one thing above all, the whole place and the sunset belong to you and your guests alone.
Nikki Beach Santorini
Nikki Beach Resort & Spa sits by Monolithos Beach on Santorini’s east coast, away from the caldera crowds, with dark volcanic sand and the open Aegean in front of it. Rooms and suites, pools and a spa make it easy to keep the whole wedding party in one place, and the resort’s party spirit comes into its own after sunset. George and Gordon opened their wedding weekend here with a welcome party on the beach.
Rocabella
Rocabella sits on the caldera rim in Imerovigli, with the volcano and the open Aegean filling the view from almost every corner. The service is built around each stay, which suits weddings that want every detail tailored rather than taken from a package, from a ceremony at sunset to a dinner on the terrace above the sea. It has hosted some of the most personal weddings in our journal, including a Hindu ceremony and a wedding of two brides.
Beachfront Wedding Venues in Athens
Athens has a coastline most visitors never expect, a string of bays and beach clubs running south of the city, half an hour from the airport. Marry here and you get the Aegean in the afternoon and the capital on your doorstep, which makes life easy for guests flying in from abroad. More on the coast in our Athens Riviera guide.
Island Resort
Island has been hosting celebrations on the Athens Riviera for decades, less than an hour from the centre of the city yet with the feel of a Greek island. Gardens and stone terraces open onto the sea, there is a private stretch of sand for the welcome drinks, and chapels set right over the water for the ceremony itself. Christina and Anthony brought their Lebanese wedding here, with a celebration that ran long into the night.
One & Only Aesthesis
One&Only Aesthesis spreads across 21 hectares of beachfront on the Athens Riviera, minutes from the city and styled on the coast’s mid-century glamour. Private pool bungalows and villas, several restaurants and Greece’s first Guerlain Spa mean guests rarely need to leave, which is why we recommend it for weddings that stretch over a whole weekend of events and larger guest lists.
Beach & Seaside Wedding Venues in Paros
Paros does the Cyclades at an easier pace. Golden beaches, whitewashed villages and a harbour at Naousa that stays lively long after dinner, with far fewer crowds than its famous neighbours. A wedding by the water here feels relaxed, stylish and unmistakably Cycladic. See our Paros page.
Monastiri
Monastiri sits right on the sand on Paros, near Naousa, and combines a beach bar, a restaurant and a cocktail bar in one place. That makes it a natural fit for a relaxed, barefoot celebration, with dinner by the water and the party moving to the bar as the night goes on, all without guests ever leaving the beach.
Beach & Seaside Wedding Venues in Skiathos
Skiathos has more than sixty beaches, and on most of them the pine forest grows right down to the sand. That gives a seaside wedding here something the bare Cycladic islands cannot, shade in the afternoon, the scent of pine in the air and shallow turquoise water for the guests the morning after. Direct summer flights from across Europe make it an easy island to bring everyone to. See our Skiathos page.
Cay Skiathos
CAY is a beach club on the golden sand of Troulos, on Skiathos’s south coast, where the pine trees run right down to shallow turquoise water. Red and white striped umbrellas line the shore, there is a pool with a separate children’s pool, and the kitchen, led by Helen Saradis, moves from light seaside plates to a full dinner, with signature cocktails as the sun goes down. It is a natural setting for a welcome party or a relaxed day after the wedding, a short drive from Skiathos town.
